This truly happened a couple years ago: One rainy autumn afternoon I was working around the house and got to thinking about my grandfather (my mother's father) who had died in 1967. I have wonderful memories of him, but I was thinking how nice it would be if I had a momento of him, like a letter or card or something. Actually, I was shedding some tears as I thought about it.
A few minutes later the phone rang, and it was my mother. She said, "Guess what......I was up in the attic this morning looking for a cookbook and I found some old cards and a letter from Grampy to you." I nearly dropped the phone. I told her what I had been thinking about. She didn't act too surprised, really.
That letter is now one of my dearest treasures. It was written in December 1965 and contains some special thoughts from my very special grandfather.
Thought transference between my mother and me is the only explanation I can come up with for this incident.
