THE afterlife is booming. Ghost-themed tours are thriving in Sydney and it's people in their 20s looking for a brush with the supernatural who are driving the trend, organisers say. As many as 50 paranormal tours now operate around the country as interest in the nether world soars. They are becoming increasingly bizarre as operators vie for their share of the ghost market. On many evenings in Sydney eager ghost-spotters can be seen in a hearse or walking by lantern light, listening to gruesome tales. Travelling through some of the city's darkest alleyways in the back of the hearse is a key part of the Weird Sydney Ghost and History Tour run by Allan Levinson. The company has now expanded to cover Parramatta, Campbelltown and Windsor to cater to the growing demand. "There is a lot of interest in the paranormal," Mr Levinson said. "People are optimistically hoping to see a ghost." www.smh.com.au/news/national/ghost-tours-breathing-life-into-death/2007/11/03/1193619200269.html
